PEMRA and PTA to Explain About Vulgar TikTok Videos Shown on TV
A two-judge panel comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Sehto of the SHC heard the petitioner Bisma Naureen’s complaint against the TV channel that had broadcast the allegedly objectionable TikTok videos.
As per the official minutes of the court session, the petitioner had argued that vulgar videos should not be telecast because they negatively impact children, and particularly those who struggle with their studies.
The petitioner asked for a ban on the screening of such videos and requested the court to have the issue supervised by relevant regulators.
The SHC has requested the PEMRA and the PTA to submit their replies as per the given schedule and inquired about the action that has been taken against the channels that had telecast such videos.
