Fully Fit Hasan Ali Eager to Return to National Team
Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming series against South Africa is expected to be announced by the new Chief Selector, Mohammad Wasim, on Friday in Karachi. It is expected that there will be some changes made to the squad after a disastrous tour of New Zealand.
Hasan Ali is one player that might be recalled to the squad after a successful campaign in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Hasan’s heroics in the final were lauded by the cricketing fraternity, as he managed a tie from the jaws of defeat for Central Punjab. He scored the first century of his First-Class career leading to a remarkable tie in the National Stadium Karachi.
Hasan came back from a lengthy injury lay-off, and according to him, he has regained full fitness ahead of the historic series against South Africa.
“When you’re out, you have to show your fitness and performances. What was in my control, my fitness, I showed by bowling 260 overs [in the season], 43 wickets, runs too, played nine back-to-back four-day games, that too in Karachi with tough conditions for bowlers,” Hasan said.
Hasan was the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, and he had the most number of wickets for a fast bowler in the tournament. He picked up 43 wickets at an average of 20.06. His contribution with the bat was crucial for Central Punjab as well. He scored a total of 273 runs at an average of 24.81, including one century and two half-centuries.
Hasan recently made headlines as the number one draft pick in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 draft. He was picked by the two-time PSL champions, Islamabad United, after a five-year stint with Peshawar Zalmi.
