Cabinet Decides Not to Tinker With Re-employment Policies for High Ranking Officials
However, the meeting ended without taking any action on the matter as some cabinet members warned that the move would not be welcomed by the retired officials re-employed by the government.

According to a report, one cabinet member noted that a considerable amount of taxpayers’ money is being wasted on a few hundred retired officials, adding that aside from significant pensions, they are receiving higher salaries and enjoying more perks than what they were entitled to before retirement.
Another cabinet member suggested that government should enact a new employment policy to put an end to the post-retirement appointments.
Retired senior officials should be re-employed in exceptional cases only and the government should withhold their pension during the term of their re-employment and should pay them salary equal to what they were receiving before retirement, said the member.

One cabinet member also recommended sending the matter to the Pay and Pension Commission.
Amid so many dividing opinions, the cabinet failed to reach a consensus on the matter and unanimously decided to shelve the matter indefinitely.
